Hey miners 👋
Just wanted to open up a casual thread and see who’s still out there grinding those hashes in 2025. With energy prices going wild, ASICs getting more specialized (and expensive), and regulations tightening in some places, mining feels like it’s in a weird spot lately.
I know some folks have gone full industrial, but is anyone here still mining from home? Maybe on solar? Maybe with repurposed hardware for altcoins?
Curious what rigs you’re running, what coins (if any) are still worth chasing, and if you’re doing this for profit, learning, or just the love of it. Also down to hear about weird bugs, cooling hacks, or power-saving tips.
Let’s swap stories — whether you're deep in immersion cooling or just testing out a USB miner for fun. 😅
Looking forward to hearing from the hash gang 🚀
Hey, love this thread — feels like a throwback to the early days but still super relevant!
I’m one of those stubborn home miners still hanging on in 2025 😅. Been mining primarily with a couple of older Antminer S19s I picked up used during a bear market dip. Power isn’t cheap where I’m at, so I’ve been experimenting with running them only during off-peak hours + supplementing with a small solar setup I rigged together last year. Definitely not break-even all the time, but I’m in it more for the hobby + network support than serious profit.
Quick thoughts from my end:
-
Still mining BTC, but I also dabble in altcoins during cooler months using GPUs — mostly for fun or to stack coins I believe might have long-term upside.
-
Been messing around with helium-immersion cooling, using an old aquarium tank — messy but surprisingly effective.
-
Power-saving tip: undervolting your ASICs slightly can reduce heat and noise without killing too much hashrate.
-
Mining software-wise, BrainsOS+ still feels solid for ASIC tuning. For GPUs, I’m using HiveOS — nice interface and remote monitoring.
Honestly, mining in 2025 feels more niche than ever — but I kinda like it that way. Smaller, scrappier community. And yeah, there’s something zen about the hum of a miner working in the background.
Would love to hear how others are staying in the game. Anyone here trying immersion at scale? Or mining out of a van or container setup?
