Hey folks,

Just wanted to start a thread to see who’s still mining in 2025 and what your current experience looks like. With all the recent shifts in network difficulty, electricity costs, and the evolution of ASICs and GPUs, I feel like the mining landscape is a whole different beast compared to even a year ago.

A few questions I’m curious about:

  • Are you mining BTC, ETH forks, Kaspa, or something else entirely?

  • Home setup or hosted farm? Solo or pool mining?

  • What kind of hardware are you running these days — still rocking 30-series GPUs or moved to ASICs?

  • How are you dealing with heat, noise, and electricity bills (especially if you're somewhere hot 🥵)?

  • And most importantly… are you still turning a profit?

Personally, I scaled down a lot after ETH went PoS, but I’ve been experimenting with Kaspa and a couple of lesser-known projects. Nothing crazy, but enough to keep the rigs warm. I also just like the idea of being part of the network — still feels kinda like the old school “cypherpunk” side of crypto.

Would love to hear your setups, tips, or even just vent about the struggles (looking at you, power outages and firmware bugs 😑). Photos welcome!

Absolutely feeling this thread — mining in 2025 is a totally different game than it was just a couple years ago.

I’m still in the hobbyist camp, running a mix of older 30-series GPUs (mainly 3070s and a couple 3080s) and recently picked up a used ASIC for Kaspa — nothing fancy, but enough to stay plugged into the ecosystem. Definitely not raking in profits, but I break even most months, which honestly feels like a win with energy costs these days.

Biggest challenge? Heat and noise. I’m in a fairly warm climate, so I’ve had to get creative with airflow and timing — mining mostly at night when rates drop. Got a small solar rig set up too, which helps a bit on the bills.

Also been dabbling in projects like Nexa and Radiant, just testing waters. The ROI isn’t huge, but like you said, there’s something satisfying about still contributing to the network, even if it’s not for big gains.

Solo mining? Not a chance 😂 — I’m all in on pools now. The variance with solo was just too brutal.

Anyway, glad you kicked this off — always cool to hear what others are doing in the trenches. Let’s keep the hash rate strong 💪⛏️

(And yes… firmware bugs and random reboots are the bane of my setup’s existence lol.)
