As we push for decentralization in dApp development, one thing that keeps bugging me is how many “decentralized” apps still rely on centralized indexers like The Graph, Moralis, or proprietary APIs to serve front-end data.

Is it truly possible to build a fully on-chain dApp that’s performant, scalable, and user-friendly — without relying on off-chain indexing or backend servers?

Has anyone experimented with decentralized data layers, event log parsing from the client side, or something like EigenLayer’s approach? I’d love to hear examples, war stories, or even workarounds people are using to reduce reliance on centralized infra.
