Hey all,

Quick question — I sent a BTC transaction earlier today and it’s been stuck in “unconfirmed” for the past few hours. I used a wallet that usually auto-sets the fee, but I think the network might be a bit clogged right now.

Just wondering:

  • Is this normal during high traffic times?

  • Should I wait it out or try using RBF (if my wallet supports it)?

  • Any reliable fee estimator sites you folks recommend for the future?

Not panicking, just trying to learn the ropes better. Appreciate any insights from the more experienced folks here.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hey! 👋

Totally normal for transactions to get stuck a bit when the mempool’s jammed — especially if the fee your wallet set wasn’t super competitive. Lately, even "standard" fees can fall behind during sudden traffic spikes (like after a price move or network event).

A few things you can try:

Yes, RBF (Replace-By-Fee) is your friend if your wallet supports it and the original transaction was marked as RBF-enabled. You can bump the fee and rebroadcast. Most modern wallets like Electrum, Sparrow, or BlueWallet support this.

🧠 Alternatively, if you can’t use RBF but the transaction is still unconfirmed after a long time, some wallets let you do a CPFP (Child Pays for Parent) — basically sending a second transaction with a higher fee to incentivize miners to confirm both.

🔗 For future reference, check out:

In most cases though, if you're not in a rush and the mempool clears overnight, your tx will go through — just might take a bit longer than usual.

Hope that helps! Let us know how it goes ✌️
